Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day.  This is a bittersweet day for me.  I love being a Mom and Gramma, but it also makes me miss my Mom something fierce.  This year she will have been gone 19 years....When you say or type that is sounds like a life time.  It is a lifetime.  Yet it still feels like just a little while ago to.  The one thing to be grateful for is that now I can just miss her and not have to deal with the intense grieving that was.

I really didn't mean for this to be a downer.  My Mom was funny, sweet, caring, stubborn, and loved me not matter what.  She showed me how much fun it was going to be a Gramma. She adored my son.  I really wish she was here to spend time with my Granddaughter...she would get such a kick out of her too!

Since we live all over the place, Mother's Day is a day for cards & calls.  This year Josh was really sweet and send me a Message in a bottle.  It was such a suprise and very sweet.  There is a message from him written on parchment paper inside so I can read it whenever I miss him!

Speaking of Josh, I am so grateful to be his Mom.  As every Mom knows there are not really words to describe how you feel about your kid.  But he has brought me such joy.  He also brought me Lilee.  Who knew being a Gramma was suck a kick!   I love you Son!

Speaking of Grandaughters, I also want to say Happy Mother's Day to Brianna.  I have been lucky to have such a good relationship with my Daughter-in-Law.  She is funny and sweet and a great Mom to Lilee.

This year there are 2 new Moms in my family.  My Neice, Victoria is a Mom now, to Kylie Lynn.  She is such a beautiful baby...Tori is such as good Mom and I can't wait to get to spend some time with them.

Also, My Granddaughter's Auntie Kadi had Anthony Jayden this year.  He is such a handsome boy.  I haven't got to meet him yet, but I hope to kiss those cutie pie cheeks soon!  Welcome to the club Kadi!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.  Hug your Mom if you can, call her if you can, or just talk to her no matter where she is...she will hear you!

Featured Friday - CraftyBirdUK

I would like you to meet Michelle and her Etsy shop:  CraftyBirdUK.

If you love Steampunk, Goth, Emo, Curiosity Crafts & One of a Kind Keepsakes, Then you will love the items at CraftyBirdUK.

Let's get to know CraftyBirdUK and Michelle:

What would you like us to know about you?
I'm a married mum of 2 from the UK...I work from home whilst juggling home education and a husband who works 12 hour shifts, so life can be hectic...and never dull! It's a very fine balance which I'm trying to perfect ;)

I started crafting at a young age...quilling, metal jewellery making free form, lace making & knitting... think I've tried most crafts at some point in some form. My love for crafts was rekindled around 14 years ago when I joined a craft group and started to do cross stitching. From there I went on to make cards, and then designed them from scratch and actually sold my own craft CD & 3d sheets. I also made card samples for TV craft shows. More recently I've started jewelery making again so my shop is a mish mash of all things!

What prompted you to open an Etsy Shop?
I'd come across some wonderful shops on Etsy and a friend of mine recommended having my own.

How did you come up with your shop name?
It's from my event business name, although I may be updating it soon so it's more in line with the items I sell.

How would you describe your shop?
A varied shop which has unique items, some upcycled and repurposed, others made from scratch and designed by me personally from start to finish. I've got so many things to add to my shop, it's going to take a while to get them all on!

What inspires you?
Shapes, colours, living things....most recently objects inspire me, as I see potential in unloved items which I can give a new purpose or lease of life to...my current project is a metal mouse sculpture which is just begging to be steampunked and upcycled. I also love antique watch parts and feel like they are my precious eye candy!!!

Which item in your shop is your favorite to make/find?
Difficult one to answer! Do I have to have just one??!! LOL....If I had to choose one it would be my rainbow dragonfly steampunk necklace because it was my first steampunk piece. (For altered methods it would have to be my 52 Reasons Why cards and for gothic then my Beauty 1 & 2 cards followed closely by the gothic necklace. I only really make items that I like and could wear & use myself...in fact the 52 Reasons Why You're The Best Mum photos shown are those from my present to my Mum for Mother's Day which she adores)

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island, what are the 3 crafty must haves?
clock parts (if they count as crafty items)
jewellers glue
unlimited supply of metal ;)

Where else can we find you?
I'm on Twitter and Tumblr under my CraftyBird name - and wordpress I use for my events under CraftyBird (hence why I'll be changing my shop name soon!)

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Nope - thank you so much for having me!

I've now added a coupon  for 15% off use code DISCOUNT15

Thanks so much Michelle.  It has been great getting to know you and discovering your shop and your lovely items.

Now please show Michelle some support and let us know which of her pieces are your favorite from her shop! Oh...and go ahead and heart a few of her items along with her shop :)

Have a great weekend!

Knit Nite Wed

It is Knit Nite again!  This has been a really fun week,  I got to play Bunko last night and I got the last Bunko, so I won a prize!  A little mini fountain for my desk!  It was so much fun, I haven't played in years.  Basically it is a simple dice game played with about 12 women, food and lots and lots of gossip!  A great time was had by all and Jessica was a great host!

I finished a pair of sock this week, which I haven't knitted in a while, in fact I haven't been knitting much, so that was a accomplishment and I got in some new fibers and yarn to dye...so next week will be all about dyeing!  Whoo Hoo

Well, enough chitter chatter from me.....onto Stuff for Knit Nite Wed.

Talented Tuesday - Misanthropy-Creations

I would like you to meet Michelle and her Etsy shop:  Misanthropy Creations .

If you are looking for Antique looking, zany and sometimes morbid, one of a kind handcrafted jewelry and accessories. Gothic, Weird, Oddities and Curiosities!  Then you will love the items at Misanthropy Creations.

Let's get to know Misanthropy Creations and Michelle:

What would you like us to know about you?
I'm allergic to the color brown.
My parents are from two different continents.
I want to be a paranormal investigator.
My pinkie toes don't touch the floor.

What prompted you to open an Etsy Shop?
I've always crafted. I believe it started when my grandmother taught me how to crochet as a child. I always have an overwhelming feeling to keep my hands busy. I call myself a mixed media artist. I'm always trying to find uses for discarded house hold objects. I started my Etsy Shop to try to use up my craft supplies because I have so much laying around the house. It turns out that my collection of supplies have grown since then and I became very serious about my shop and the outcome!

How did you come up with your shop name?
I'm not a big fan of most people. I'd rather sit at home and craft then be sociable. I'm also a waitress/restaurant manager so I feel like I see enough people and have to deal with people enough that I should be able to hid away in my craft cave. Don't get me wrong though, I love my customers and the love and support that the Etsy community provides!

How would you describe your shop?
Antique looking, zany and sometimes morbid, one of a kind handcrafted jewelry and accessories. Gothic, Weird, Oddities and Curiosities!

What inspires you?
I find color inspirations from:  Under the sea.  In the sky.  Science fiction movies, television shows, books and magazines.I also find inspiration from crafts stores. I could spend hours upon hours just walking around and getting ideas while looking at the supplies and then purchasing them to follow those ideas through to completion. Love and friendship are also huge inspirations for me as well. It's such a great feeling to give someone a gift that you made and see their face knowing that you made that item.
To me handmade means love. To me handmade means care. That is exactly what each one of my items is made out of. Love and Care. Nothing in my shop is mass manufactured by machines. I have touched every piece and every piece has touched me.

Which item in your shop is your favorite to make/find?
My new This Means War - Rifle Bullet Necklaces www.etsy.com/listing/98408908/this-means-war-necklace-single-bullet

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island, what are the 3 crafty must haves?
I think I would be more concerned with survival than keeping my self busy with crafts, so I believe the most useful items would be scissors, glue or tape, and twine.

Things I found this week on Etsy

This has been a good week.  I am getting into the routine of blogging and actually liking it.  I am finding it more fun than a chore, which is good.  There is so many wonderful things I keep seeing on Etsy.  It is a good thing I am not rich, or I would be in trouble and being a hoarder, wouldn't cover it!  lol  I just want to buy all the pretties I see!

I am knitting some some socks for someone this week and I am finding that I like knitting them.  I was tired of them for a while, so I may do some kid socks for the shop...we'll see...I need to find those other 12 hours in the day first!

So, here are some of my favorite things from the last week.  I hope you like them and give them some love...

Have a great week!
